  • Fueled – 252 Piece Puzzle

    Fueled – 252 Piece Puzzle

Continuing on from earlier puzzle posts, the family (plus my parents who were in town around my birthday) completed another puzzle, albeit smaller-than-normal, that I had gotten from the Fueled Shop.

Sidebar: Fueled Shop is our company-branded instance of Pressto Shop, a turnkey WordPress and WooCommerce-based storefront that enables organizations to quickly launch branded merchandise shops with curated products and seamless e-commerce infrastructure.  It leverages Printify behind-the-scenes for print-on-demand merchandise orders.

While Fueled Shop no longer lists the puzzle I purchased that, it was likely the Jigsaw Puzzle with Tin option on Printify.  Unfortunately the quality of the pieces is not great as they’re super thin and flimsy, and somewhat worst of all every single interior piece is cut nearly the exact same.  Because of those reasons, we’ve since removed the puzzle from Fueled Shop (as well as an option in Pressto Shop)so I can’t link directly to the puzzle for y’all to view or purchase.

  • A Charlie Brown Christmas – 1000 Piece Puzzle

A Charlie Brown Christmas – 1000 Piece Puzzle

Another Christmas season and another completion of the A Charlie Brown Christmas 1000 piece puzzle.  This is probably our 3rd straight year completing the puzzle, with the final piece going in not long after midnight New Year’s Eve (Chicago time).  We had some assists from our friends the Brezina and DeMong families on this one, which made for a solid “framily” puzzling session that started just before Christmas and completed on NYE.

  • LEGO Rainbow Bricks – 1000 Piece Puzzle

LEGO Rainbow Bricks – 1000 Piece Puzzle

Another month, another puzzle completed.  The kids pretty much ignored this one, which was surprising given how much most of them enjoy building and crafting with LEGOs.  Although they were kind enough to let me complete about 90% and then one day after school they swarmed in and finished it off.  With one of them hiding a piece so they could be the one to put in the final piece of the puzzle, truly devious.  I’m almost certain that each of them will now take a puzzle piece and hide it so they can be the one to finish future puzzles which almost certainly means I’ll find myself with puzzles completed except for 5 missing pieces.

All that aside, this 1000 piece LEGO Rainbow Bricks jigsaw puzzle was a fun colorful way to come out of the holiday season and try to bring a burst of color to the otherwise bleak winter days outside.

  • Rockefeller Center – 1000 Piece Puzzle

Rockefeller Center – 1000 Piece Puzzle

Another 1000 piece jigsaw puzzle completed, this time around Springbok’s Rockefeller Center conveniently timed for the winter holidays.  This one was a bit of a wicked pisser as there were lots of seriously non-standard jigsaw puzzle piece shapes that made trying to brute force certain areas super difficult.  Still a good seasonal puzzle and a reminder of our days in NYC before kids.

  • Paris Reflections – 1000 Piece Puzzle

Paris Reflections – 1000 Piece Puzzle

Another family completion of a 1000 piece puzzle, this time Paris Reflections by Dominic Davison.  The puzzle piece quality is really sturdy, nice and thick, which makes it easier for little hands to maneuver without damaging (the little hands want to help, they just sometimes get a little too excited).

This one was a little difficult with the reflections making it tough to discern one section from another and the Paris building architecture is also similar enough that it slowed down some of our progression through completing those parts.  Overall though it was a fun puzzle and a good one to provide me ample time to tell the kids about my time living and working in Paris.

  • Tiger Sanctuary – 500 Piece Puzzle

Tiger Sanctuary – 500 Piece Puzzle

Another puzzle informed by one of the twins’ favorite animals: tigers.  This Tiger Sanctuary 500 piece puzzle from MasterPieces (currently not in stock) took a bit to separate out and get the tigers assembled due to the similarity in coloring across pieces.  Things got a little easier when we focused on the flowers, plants, and elephants first.

Ironically, I don’t know that we remembered to check out the puzzle in the dark (or at least I don’t have any pictures that show it in the dark).  So we’ll have to pull this one out of storage again to reassemble and check out how well the glow-in-the-dark part works.

  • LEGO Minifigure – 1000 Piece Puzzle

LEGO Minifigure – 1000 Piece Puzzle

Another puzzle in the books, this time a LEGO-themed one with lots of fun minifigures In a grid layout.  This LEGO Minifigure 1000 piece puzzle was a little tough with all the whitespace and similar yellow color tones in the minifigs, but also easy in some spots finding outfit color match pieces.

We set this one up in the kids’ playroom (aka once upon a time a formal dining room) and between reading, piano practice, and homework the puzzle table served a very frequent distraction from other required activities.  That said, puzzling as a family and seeing the kids quietly work together is a wonderful break from the normal chaotic everyday.
