A couple of weekends back I made it out to the Jacob Javitz Center to catch the
[New York Auto Show](http://www.autoshowny.com/). It was the first time I’ve attended
a “major” auto show and it was pretty impressive. Cars, trucks, SUVs, and all kinds
of assorted automobiles everywhere. That at marketers and PR folk galore; not to
mention the product brochures!
I had very little that I wanted to see. I was simply
hoping to see some “pretty cars”. I did get to see the [2005/2006 version of my Mitsubishi Montero](http://www.autoshowny.com/vehicle/2005/mitsubishi_montero.shtml).
To be honest, not much has really changed except it can now come with a DVD video
entertainment system.

The highlight of the show? Easy. The [2006 Dodge Charger SRT8](http://www.dodge.com/autoshow/charger/index.html).
Not that I’m going to rush out and buy one, especially since the gas mileage is
horrific. I suppose when you buy a muscle car like this you’re not exactly keeping
gas mileage as your highest concern.

The low point of the show? Easy. The fact that I couldn’t find a single [Smart car](http://www.usa.smart.com).
You can’t turn a corner in Europe without seeing a Smart ForTwo auto. They’re so
funny looking, but nothing beats the Smart Roadster. It’s a great looking sports
car with fun lines and a smooth ride. Unfortunately, DaimlerChrysler is [mismanaging](http://www.iht.com/articles/2005/04/01/business/smart.html)
the brand and it’s cars. Hopefully they’re clean up their act and bring the Smart
cars stateside sometime soon!
